What are you waiting for?

In this first of a series of six articles, an International Change Coach will explain the first step necessary to Become The Change you wish to see in your life.  You will learn ways to improve your life so that you can create the success you dream about.

I’m going to share an exciting overview of how to Become the Change you wish to see in your life in greater detail. Once you understand this formula, you can apply it to every situation in your life that you want to improve. With your understanding, you can plan and create success that you’d like to enjoy.

I am a Change Coach.  I understand how important it is to shake ourselves loose from the habits we’ve established so that we can progress in our lives.  Here are the six steps I’ll be sharing with you over this series of six articles:

  • Growth in awareness of what’s involved in changing
  • Analysis of where you are right now
  • Deciding what you want to change
  • Taking the Change Steps
  • Enjoying the results
  • Planning your next step

Step One. Growth in Awareness of What’s Involved in Changing

An unaware individual cannot change. Each of us knows folks who are set in their ways and who oppose any idea beyond the way they currently see things. You might have people like that in your life experience right now. Some of them might enjoy the title ‘parent’ or ‘spouse.’

Regardless of their current relationship to you, you can still become more aware while they remain the way they have chosen to be. You are an individual being, and you have a right to live your life as you see fit. No one has the right to stand in the way of your progress.

For those of you who seem to have strong individuals influencing your lives currently, I’d like to recommend that you will still be able to accomplish change in your life if you keep your intentions quiet and private.

Within the solace of your own thinking (where no one else can see or hear what you are doing,) you can accomplish the changes that you want. These changes will automatically show forth in your life and your strong, significant other (who may not understand how change is effected) will be quite surprised, and, who knows, perhaps delighted.

Awareness about the fact that our lives are governed by our thinking is an absolute must for any kind of change. You begin by learning how to watch your thinking. You simply turn your thinking within yourself and observe how you currently use your mind:

  • Do you have a habit of negativity?
  • Do you conjure up reasons why your dreams cannot come true?
  • Do you only see the impediments toward accomplishment?
  • Do you create lists of why something will never happen for you?
  • Does your habitual sense of expecting disappointment continue to create disappointment?

Inside the vault of your own mind is truly one thing that only you can access. It is the one thing that you can govern. It alone makes you the arbiter of your own fate. If you think that you don’t see inside your own mind clearly, I would recommend that you re-think this. You will have a much fuller sense of how your mind works and how you can use it to find ways to improve your life.

The question remains: “How does my awareness help me to change?” Awareness allows you to see where you are right now. In the world of Process Improvement, that is referred to as Benchmarking. You mark where you are right now (using awareness) and you can then see where you’d like to take yourself next. Awareness is fostered through unbiased observation. It does not involve any excuses or explanations. It only requires looking or observing,  and then saying “What is, IS.”

Your next question might be “What is next?” Please notice that you are controlling this from inside your own mind. Questions are a big part of awareness, and those come up from within your own mind, too. It’s really quite brilliant and so are you.

To become the change you wish to see in your life, you have to become aware candidly of how things are right now. Then, you have to use that awareness to ask yourself how to find ways to improve your life or to create success.
