You Are The Power
Set and Achieve Your Goals
Break Free of Your Past
There are three key ideas that I’ll be sharing with you about achieving your goals in this article.
1. You are the Power.
2. You can set your goals.
3. You can achieve your goals.
Now, this may appear simplistic at a quick glance, but let’s drill down deeper to see what is involved. These are the things I personally have done to achieve my success.
1. You are the Power. It is impossible for any individual to recognize something that he is not. The process of recognition requires going within one’s self, discussing the topic, and coming up with a conclusion about it. If a nation’s dignitary parades before us, we begin to think about what it might have taken for him or her to have arrived at such a place of power and honor, and we certainly end up concluding that they have it. If you were not powerful in your own right, you would not even recognize power when you saw it. For example, an individual who has a lower IQ would not recognize a genius. So in the same way, because you recognize power in another, that power is within you or you wouldn’t recognize it.
You may not have touch or exercised that power yet. You may not be comfortable being the power in your life yet. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t in there waiting for your recognition and employment. It is ready when you are ready.
2. You can set your goals. Before you can achieve a goal, you must first set it. And no one else can set goals for you to achieve unless you agree with those goals and embrace them as if you’d set them yourself. Your parents set goals for you. One of the first ones was to have you sleep through an entire night so they could get some rest. They continued to set higher and higher goals for you and their goals – completely adopted and agreed to by you, sometimes with grumbling – became your own and you achieved them.
That was then. You are now an adult. What goals have you crafted for a successful life for yourself? I would never dream to even make suggestions as to your own goals here because your goals need to be part of your Big Dream for a successful life and only you can say what that is. What is your Biggest Dream? Please take a moment and write it down. Written goals are a form of commitment.
3. You can achieve your goals. Now that we’ve gotten that Big Dream down on paper, what do you see as the five key ingredients to making that Big Dream happen. What five things (there may be more) can you see are important pieces in bringing that Big Dream into fruition? Write those five or more things down.
Next, take one of the five things and ask yourself what has to happen to make that one reach completion. Write down all the ideas that your mentality tells you. Don’t try to sit in judgment of them. Don’t try to question what comes up. Just accept them as is and trust that they are right for you and that if you don’t understand them immediately, you will at some point in the future.
After you’ve completed the first of the five things, work on the next four. Just ask yourself what you’d need to do to complete each of them. Trust what your mind brings up for you.
There can be many more steps in this process, but if you will consider at least these three key ideas to achieve your goals and living a powerful life, you are well along the way of Being the Change you want to see in your life. Remember, set your goals so you can be achieving your goals and enjoying the success in life.
